Because one of the most important outcomes isn't simply what children learn—it's helping families become more comfortable talking together.

Shared learning gives caregivers language they can continue using at home and reinforces that trusted adults are available when questions come up.

What ages are the workshops designed for?

Both current family workshops are primarily designed for tweens approximately 8 to 12 years old and a parent, caregiver, or trusted adult.

Does every child need an adult?

Yes. These are family workshops designed for youth and adults to participate together.

Do children share personal information?

No. Participants are never expected to disclose personal experiences, answer questions about their own bodies or sexual experiences, or share anything that makes them uncomfortable.

Can my child ask questions anonymously?

Yes! Anonymous questions are incorporated into workshops so participants can ask things they may not feel comfortable saying aloud.

Are these workshops sex education?

They are part of comprehensive, age-appropriate sexuality education, but they're probably different from what many adults remember as "sex ed."

The emphasis is on development, communication, relationships, boundaries, consent, media literacy, trusted adults, and giving families tools to continue conversations at home.

Will pornography be shown during Media & Relationship Talks?

No. Porn or sexually explicit images are NOT shown.

Pornography is discussed in an age-appropriate way within the larger context of media literacy, online content, healthy relationships, communication, bodies, and consent.

What if my child has never seen pornography?

That's completely fine.

The workshop does not assume that participants have viwed pornography. The purpose is to build media literacy and communication skills that can help young people navigate confusing or unexpected content if they encounter it in the future.

Are you going to tell my child whether pornography is good or bad?

No. Families have different cultural, personal, and religious values surrounding sexuality and pornography. It is not our place to label it.

The workshop focuses on media literacy, healthy relationships, critical thinking, consent, communication, and age-appropriate information while giving caregivers space to discuss their own family values.

Is Familia Sex Talks LGBTQIA+ inclusive?

Yes. Our workshops recognize that families, bodies, gender identities, sexual orientations, and relationships are diverse.

Inclusive education benefits all young people.

Are workshops available in Spanish?

What if my child asks something I'm not ready to answer?

Congratulations—you've experienced parenting.

You don't need an immediate perfect answer.

Try: "That's a really good question. I want to think about how to answer it. Can we come back to it?"

Keeping the conversation open matters more than knowing everything.
